Research

I am a doctoral student supervised by Prof Dr Eckart Altenmüller and I actively collaborate with eminent researchers and professors as Dr Daniel Müllensiefen, Dr Maria Herrojo Ruiz and Dr Bruno Kopp. I am currently conducting studies investigating triggers of focal dystonia in musicians, with special regards for dysfunctional practice strategies, aiming at creating effective prevention protocols for musicians. I am particularly interested in expertise, practice effectiveness and performance assessment in music. I created new a measurement instrument for measuring deliberate practice in music as well as protocols for reliability assessing performance quality while accounting for possible biasing factors, as rated-related variability. My article ‘Deliberate Practice in Music: Development and Psychometric Validation of a Standardized Measurement Instrument’ has been recently published in the journal ‘Psychology of Music’.
